Ghanaian media personality and GHPage boss Rashad Emmanuel has launched a strong criticism against Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, questioning the goalkeeper’s performances and popularity among Ghanaian football fans.
Speaking on his Rash Hour show, Rashad claimed that Asare benefited from his association with dancehall artiste Shatta Wale and the Shatta Movement (SM) brand.
According to Rashad, Asare used his affiliation with Shatta Wale to win the support and admiration of many Ghanaians, despite what he described as shortcomings in the goalkeeper’s performances.“Because of Shatta Wale, people show him love and praise him but he is not good. The guy is very weak,” he said.
Rashad further alleged that Asare deliberately leaned on the popularity of the Shatta Movement because of the strong following enjoyed by Shatta Wale.
“This guy came to trick us. He sat and analyzed that, if he uses Shatta Wale’s name, it will help him, so, he just decided to use it,” Rashad reportedly stated. Asare has publicly acknowledged Shatta Wale as an influential figure in his life and has previously shown his support for the musician, including sporting the Shatta Movement’s “SM” symbol.
